🌊 46% of people surveyed in Europe living by the coast say their local marine environment is worse than 10 years ago. 🌊 Only 36% believe their government is taking sufficient action to protect marine environments. 🌊 42% have witnessed littering or dumping in coastal and marine areas. The findings point to a growing “enforcement gap” between ocean protection commitments on paper and the lived reality in coastal communities.

On the 24th March, I will be joining the remarkable Natalie Kyriacou OAM for a conversation about law, justice and the planet as part of the ClientEarth Summit. Natalie is an award-winning environmentalist, author and charity director who has spent years championing the protection of wildlife and ecosystems, while also pushing for stronger accountability in how we govern our relationship with nature. Together we will have a thought-provoking conversation about the state of the world and the role the law can play in shaping a just future for all. From war and inflation to mounting geopolitical tensions, today’s global landscape is creating new and complex pressures for leaders, organisations and communities. In this session we will explore how the law belongs to all of us and why it matters for the future we want to build.
